To me the Southampton reds were straight forward decisions.
Tadic leads with a straight leg and almost disembowels Hernandez.
Lemina leads with the elbow and aims it at Arnautovic's head.

Far far worse than what Robson-Kanu got sent off for at Burnley.

Exactly Sven, so if the first 2 were reds the second two wouldn't have happened.

Goals on Sunday actually analysing the thuggery properly
Tadic, Lemina, Noble and Arnautovic all should have seen red.

We lose because of fundamental things like positioning. Or losing the ball in bad areas of the pitch for no reason at all. It's like we have the best team we have and the worst coaching all in one.

____

^^^ this. There was a passage of play before their first goal where we were outnumbered in midfield and lost the ball in a heading ping pong battle- southampton moved the ball quickly to the right....the had two players in acres of space and half the pitch in front of them with cresswell hovering somewhere between the penalty spot and nowhere-land. A pretty similar set-up to their goal on the other side a few minutes later
Question ; how can a decent team allow basic football like this with gaps all over the park to not reacx...and how the fuck can the other side outnumber us in two areas of the pitch, at the same time?

Im exasperated by Bilic and the players inability to deal with fundamental football tactics and lesson learning

And on Ayew- he has the footballing brain of a 12 year old Carlton Cole- he's never where he should be; looks as surprised as Mum my who is 84 would be , when the ball turns up; always the wrong side of the ball; never has his body angled to receive or move the ball properly- hence the ball never ever sticks with him. Maybe he's played int he wrong position however Im struggling to see how the fuck anyone thought he could do a job for west ham!

Surely you mean "WHEN hernandez is injured

Only a matter of time

Our weakness is surely in defence, it was last season and continues to be this season. Neither Fonte nor Ogbonna are up to it, Collins is better than both. If we could shift those two and bring a decent CB in we would have something to build on.

Plus I do agree with those who ask 'what happens if Hernandes is injured', the answer can only be we are back to where we were last season. Do we have any sort of strategy when it comes to team building??

FMOB you're in a bad mood! Did you lose a game or something. I meant a change of individual midfield players rather than the system change Alex was talking about you miserable fcuker.

Who would you replace him with ?

Re: ⚽ Southampton v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 3-2
We did take a player out of mid park to accommodate Ayew. He seems the type of player that you can only use at home and against very defensive teams.

he's just said a third midfielder to match up to them, of course it meant a change of players. are you on a wind up?

OK I see. You mean we were too much like 4-2-4 rather than 4-3-3. I thought you meant a change of players .

A third midfielder to match up with the opponents and not leave us exposed.

Re: ⚽ Southampton v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 3-2
I agree with Alex. when picking my team for the game I had Noble playing just in front of Rice & Obiang. I think we needed a stronger three in the middle as Ayew offers very little defensively or in build up play

>>> I'm not a great Bilic fan, but you can't blame him for yesterday.

I do. He picked a weak setup in midfield to give Hernandez support up front. He should have known it would put pressure on all aspects of our play defensively. That's where mistakes and indiscipline comes from - pressure.

Have to admit I started the season all for given Slaven the benefit of the doubt, hoping he could improve us on last year.

I thought with no europa league we'd have better pre season preparation and be much fitter than this time last season.

I thought with his top targets being bought in, all upgrades on who they replaced, we'd have better shape with players playing in their right positions.

I hoped we'd have a bit more tactical nouse and cut out the constant mistakes which gave every team we played a huge chance to get 3 points against us last season.

It's early days of course but; we look just as fit as we did this time last season (which wasn't very fit at all!), we look all over the place on the pitch unable to do the basics with and with out the ball, and we are still gifting teams games through lackadaisical marking and sheer lack of concentration.

Can't account for players losing their heads and getting sent off of course but I see no improvement on last season so far - it's not even about the players at his disposal, any coach worth half his salt should be able to get this squad mid table minimum. Fingers crossed he can but it don't look good.
